Editing Posts

July 28 2018

Hi, it would appear to me that once a Comment has been posted you can't edit that Comment, so will this feature be added to the forum at any time ? Also, is there an option in the profile section that i can click to take me to a list of Topics that i have posted Comments in. Cheers

There are different ways to keep track of your posts, the most like what you asked for is... On your profile, there is a list headed "more actions" that includes a few of your last few posts/actions onsite. I favourite myself so my posts are easy to find on my home page when I sign in, and I can go straight from there. The other thing that comes straight to mind is that you can do an "advanced forum search" on the desktop version. Click on Advanced in the forum tags section on the top right. That will allow you to search the forum by name of profile and headings in posts and topics. Cheers, Peachy

Thank you, yeah every other forum i have been in has an edit feature, however that can actually cause some issues in certain scenarios that i won't go into here, as it is complex, but for 99% of comments posted we should be able to do it, and i like it as i sometimes forget to add stuff to some posts and at the moment i would have to create another post just to add those comments to. Thanks for the Tip about adding my own comments as a Favourite as i can see how this works to locate my posts. Cheers

The forum software they use will have the editing function disabled. It's annoying as when all you want to do is fix a typo, but it's very effective at stopping abusive posts if you're forced to own what you write.

But after seeing people make comment, others respond (positive or negative) and then people clarifying what they meant in the first place in later posts I think it would become messy if editing were allowed. The thread wouldn't make sense and people responding would look silly without the original reference. I wish minor spelling mistakes could be corrected though

RHP is like no other forum I've been on, I don't think an edit function would be for the betterment of RHP. Given that we can be a belligerent bunch and conflict is apparently unavoidable, people will abuse an edit function just to emphasize a point. On other forums people often use a quote function to keep posters honest about what was posted compared to what they like have us believe what they wish they had posted. Just like in RL a slip of the tongue, or key board, can be corrected...or not.

Report by poster can make such a big difference though, that whole threads disappear into thin air because some don't feel their opinions are being given enough credence. Comments can be removed by their own posters at request that can leave a misleading impression too. Confusing, Peachy, admires transparency

Quoting 'PeachySxynIknoIt' Report by poster can make such a big difference though, that whole threads disappear into thin air because some don't feel their opinions are being given enough credence. Comments can be removed by their own posters at request that can leave a misleading impression too. Confusing, Peachy, admires transparency Given that you would have had a hand in so many thread deletions
